GTA IV Installation Video (New Xbox Experience)

From the Mac-faggots at Engadget comes this video, the latest in Sony and Microsoft's attempts to make their consoles more and more alike:

I would appreciate this feature more if:

a) My Xbox wasn't fucked
b) I didn't have a 20 GB HDD
c) I ever played my Xbox

Still, it's a nice option to have. Note the word "option" there - they don't force you to install the games like Sony do so there's no reason to complain.

I don't see much benefit to installing it, you need the game to play it (so it seems), so it'll only lower the loading times? For what.. 6gb HD space? I can wait those extra 6 seconds.

But yeah just looked up the price of the 120 gig. 180? Fuck that shit. For 100 bucks more I could get 120gig AND a new 360. Fucking stupid.

You can use a laptop hard drive on the 360 too I think, just need to open the HD case so yeah. I never had much issues with pop in on gow and I've yet to play Mass Effect.

It wasn't bad in gears. But it happened. Happens in Unreal sometimes too. Pretty much any Unreal Engine game.

Mass Effect is prolly the worst, just because everything is so high res.

Oh yeah, those games had streaming textures just like Halo 2 on the original Xbox.

I expect it would help in that regard - the PC version of Halo 2 didn't have those streaming textures because the content was stored on a hard disk rather than a DVD and so the textures could be static due to the higher bandwidth, I guess.

Well the main reason I would like to install some games is noise. As soon as the 360 is done checking that the disk is legit, it will stop spinning so your 360 will barely make any noise while playing.

And, it will help with load times and such.
