Default My Xbox 360 issues..., Posted 07-26-2008 at 06:22 PM.

I'm having a ton of problems with this bloody console right now. Here's a list of the problems I've encountered in the last week:

1) Halo 3 disc inexplicably scratched itself - wasn't taken out of the console between the last successful play and the first time it failed to load. It boots to the initial splash screen of the "3" logo, then stops and freezes there indefinitely.

2) Gears of War disc has become unreadable - the XBox guide actually gives me an error for this one though, unlike Halo 3. Again, I didn't scratch the disc or mistreat it in any way - I'm very careful with all my games.

3) Media Center used to work fine, but now whenever I load it up it gets to the "Contacting" stage before telling me there was an error and asking me if I'd like to reconnect (reconnecting results in an endless loop of failures).

4) Sometimes the blade interface simply won't load upon startup. It'll sign my profile in, then the circular loading animation will just spin indefinitely.

5) Halo 2 doesn't work on Live - I can't update to v1.5 which is required to play online, but I know for a fact that it works as I have played this game on a friends console and we updated his just fine. Also during the initial Bungie logos, there is deafening static instead of the usual music.

6) Playing WMA-Lossless tracks off my Zune (or PC) doesn't work properly. Playback is jumpy and large sections of the tracks are skipped. Since I rip all my music in this format, I'm pretty pissed that the Xbox 360 doesn't seem to support it. All my music and videos play better on my original (albeit chipped) Xbox for God's sake!

Any suggestions for any of my woes? This console pisses me off no end... Here's hoping the new dash fixes a couple of these issues (though obviously not the disc-related ones).

Green is nat stats, I know because I have the same problem unless I open certain ports. Did you move the console AT ALL while playing either of those games? Purchase that disc cleaner stuff I mentioned.

Yeah sounds like your lens is fucked / dying. For the updates and live issues, gonna say its your connection. Just because I don't know why the console itself would fuck that up. No idea tho really.

Thanks guys.

Leon, it has nothing to do with NAT - you blame everything on that - It's not going out over the internet to reach my PC - they're on the same subnet. Also, it was working fine for weeks and no part of my network configuration has changed.

I was thinking the lens might be worn out too, may have to look into finding a replacement drive, since the console is out of warranty (it's a 2006 unit).

It may not be down to NAT but NAT will fix it, suddenly my guide stopped loading and just span for EVER. Then it eventually wouldn't even let me connect to XBL, it would for a second and then disconnect me(only on the dashboard). Whenever I need to play EA games I have to enable DMZ, when I did this my dashboard connected.

And as for before with the PC, I thought it was down to NAT because it is.. but sometimes we connect and sometimes we don't.. so I'm guessing it's talk talk.

Nah it should still be in warranty.

Got mine Feb 06, and it was covered. Sent it in a while back and got a new box. They add 3 years to each xbox you get via RROD.

Well, I would like to send it back, but it's not as if it has a major technical fault.

Wrap it in a towel, and leave it on a game menu until it red rings. That or just say it Red Ringed. Even if it doesn't for them, they can't prove it didn't for you.
