Default Ninja Gaiden II - Part 1, Posted 06-22-2008 at 08:43 AM.

Well, out of total boredom dispite a somewhat lack of funds I went out and bought Ninja Gaiden II and Ninja Gaiden Black (off of Live). I just finished the first two chapters and I felt the need to talk about it a bit.

#1 - Ninja Gaiden is still as hard as pissing in the toilet during a major earthquake.
#2 - NINJA GAIDEN IS STILL AS HARD AS PISSING IN A TOILET DURING A MAJOR EARTHQUAKE!

Geezus fuck, sometimes unreasonable so. I've beaten Ninja Gaiden I. It was a very awesome, Contra-like difficult experience. The combat was reminiscent of a fighting game. I thought it was fun. I get to the second boss and fuck me, you can't block his attacks! You still take damage if you do! He has the fucking reflexes of a cat as well, which means in the time he pauses between attacks for a moment I need to try to run up and hit hi- oh shit look at that turned on a fucking dime. So after keeping my eyes in an angry position for an hour I finally beat him.

Enough about the difficulty. On to another problem. The camera is piss poor. There is one thing they could have done to remedy 99% of the camera problems the game has and allow it to tilt up without resetting itself to a skimming-the-ground-view. So many times have I been looking at a wooden banister or the corner of a wall while I'm trying to kill something.

A small complaint I have is about the third stage. I've had to type every other word of this so far because of the spastic lightning effects it has. Maybe I should turn on a light or something. Good thing I'm not epileptic. I still have flashbulb after images of New York still stuck in my eyes.

Enough bitching. Onward.

As much as it may seem I hate the obscene difficulty at times, I also can enjoy it. Fighting regular baddies is kept interesting. You can't just bang the controller against your head and expect to win. It takes an amount of know how to beat an angry horde of ninjas with archers 50 feet in the rear. Oh the non-human bad guys I've fought, they need a whole different tactic then regular ninjas. It's cool.

The graphics look great. I'm not sure what people meant when they said it didn't hold up to Ninja Gaiden I's graphical standards. I think they may be on crack. Sometimes it can look slightly choppy, but I'm not sure if that's just me.

I only have three weapons so far, however one is really really fucking cool. The Falcon Talons. Holy God these things are brutal. They splice bag guys like butter. The Lunar staff is...ok I guess. I've only used it once and it was against these ninja dogs. There were a lot of them and it worked well there. Besides that, the Dragon Sword and the Falcon Talons are my main tools of ass kicking.

I know the "piss and moan" section is longer then the positive section, but it's easier to complain then praise sometimes. I'm enjoying Ninja Gaiden II so far. Hopefully I'll follow through and finish it and come back with a Part II of this.

I've always been a fan of ninja gaiden. I definetly agree with you on the difficulty level of the game as a whole but I can't say much about anything else because I have only played up to the first boss in II because I played it at a friends house and don't own it myself. Although for some reason this is the game where I enjoy its difficulty.

Agreed. Also always a fan of the NG series, but haven't tapped this one yet. Brassthief, after reading your...less than stellar comments on the game, I went trolling around for some better reviews and noticed that they weren't all bad. The biggest complaint I saw was about control style and camera angle, which, while certainly not good, is such an annoying complaint we gamers always come up with. If you're an adaptable gamer, you should be able to get used to any controls and see the game for its overall design, plot, etc. The review I read at gave, IMO, the most fair assessment that I read.

Still, people will always bemoan game with crummy angles. But if that's the only complaint about this game, I don't see it as being a huge deal. Though I still have yet to play it myself, heh heh...so who knows.

Better than DMC, but still repetitive bullshit.

And the boss battles where straight out of a 80s arcade game. In the sense that they are stupid and poorly programed.

I have just bought NGII and it seems a little easier than the 1st. I have just started the 1st Chapter mind!

I have always enjoyed it. I've only finished NGSigma (PS3) mind. Black/NG on the Xbox was a cunt in terms of difficulty so I can fully understand your pain

i beat the old ninja gs with no troubles, and i beat the xbox one really quickly. twice!
ninja g2... i just got bored of it i think. same with dmc4. just not fun any more for me.
if it had zero puzzles in it and less places to WHOOPS you fell down, go redo all of the last 35 jumps you did.... WHOOPS you fell down redo it again..... i might have played it more.
i used the sythe and the dragon sword by far the most.
yea ng2 is hard at points isnt it? lol. at least you get to heal a little now.
the only problems i had at all i think was the ninja dogs. they just bothered me so much.

Yeah those dogs were pure hell.

Okay it's a dog, got it, jumps and runs. It has a sword in it's mouth well alright that's the ninja part. But why they hell do they get to throw ninja stars?

i seemed to have trouble hitting them because of their low height combined with the speed in which they move.
plus i always used the sythe which was too slow for dogs...
