Another thing; Does the drive only glow when something is happening? Putting a disc in/taking out etc. I wish it would glow all the time, looks badass.

You will need an ethernet adapter if you don't get a wireless router. I personally would get a wireless router and go that route as it is best. Wireless will give you the same speed as wired but without the wires running in your room. Wifi doesn't suck and whoever says that just doesn't know how to set it up or buys a crappy router and that gives them bad speeds. Or they have bad speeds anyways and just blame it on wifi instead of their ISP.

The drive only glows when you have a message or an update is needed (which shows in the form of a message). I also wish it would glow when a game is running or something. A lot of people were mad about this at launch because 90% of the Wii pics from Nintendo showed it glowing and people loved it. Mine glows like once every 4 or 5 months for updates. However, Nintendo is planning more updates so it might start glowing more often. There is no setting or the glow either.

In general. WiFi occasionally drops out, wired ethernet does not. It's a no-brainer.

Also I'm pretty sure it would be easy enough to modify the Wii to light up the whole time, if you really wanted to.

Yeah I'll most likely get a wireless router. But my only gripe is; what will my other stuff connect with? Two PC's and a 360 (I know you can get that wireless thing for the 360, but is it needed or whatever?).

I'll prolly just get one when I get Brawl, cause that'll be the first game I'll want to be able to play online.

And on the 19th of April I'll have a 15mb download / 1mb upload speed, so it's all good.

Yeah if you're currently using Ethernet for your PC and Xbox 360, that'll be fine with the wireless router - generally speaking they include 4 or 8 ethernet ports as well as the WiFi antenna. So no worries there.

Just do what you do now... ethernet to 360. It's not ONLY wireless, it has ethernet connections too.

Too quick max.

I use wifi for just about everything in my house and don't have drop outs unless the router goes down or the internet does. WiFi has the same reliability as wired and it is just as secure. My iMac has no problems with connection dropping and our laptop works fine. I also stream our TV shows from my iMac wireless to the Xbox 360 and TiVo along with movies and have no problems.

Why would you want to modify your Wii? The light serves a purpose and that is to inform you of Messages, Game Updates, Menu Updates, and Channel Updates.

Since ethernet networks require physical access, WiFi can never be "as secure".

And if it works fine for you, that's great, but it's not as reliable as I need it to be. I get a bunch of people (my family) screaming at me if the internet goes down for any reason, and this happens within 5 seconds of the internet dropping. As for streaming wirelessly - balls to that.

And I wouldn't want to mod my Wii to glow blue permanently. But some people do, and it was merely a suggestion to them.

Likewise actually, constantly have to restart router for them.

I can see the point of it glowing when there's an update etc, which is nice. But it would be really nice if it glowed when you were playing a disc too.
