Super Smash Bros - Wii May Have Problems

There have been tons of problems with SSBB on Wii (it seems mostly those from launch, as mine is) several sites are reporting this and Nintendo seems to be saying them same thing as they have setup a support area for SSBB including a Free and Fast (what they consider fast I don't know) Repair Process of sending them your Wii. I don't know how wide spread this is but it looks like a lot of people are reporting it and Nintendo is also expecting this problem with launch systems.

I don't have the game yet. I plan to pick it up in a day or two. My Wii is from the midnight launch so we will see if I have any problems. I might go rent it tonight just to check my Wii before buying the game.

Is it doing something to the Wii? Or is the game glitching?

This is what Nintendo says (amazingly from the links I posted above);

Super Smash Bros. Brawl utilizes a double-layer disc which has a large memory capacity. A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive. Nintendo has specialized cleaning equipment that can resolve this problem. (Please do NOT attempt to clean the lens yourself, as you may damage the system.)

I'm going to purchase the game this afternoon when I finish some client work so I hope mine works. I know a few people who has launch and theirs works fine but another friend had to send his in for this problem, so who knows how many systems it is really giving a problem.

I think that I may be having some of those problems but I'm not entirely sure. I have not once been able to connect to a 'With Anyone' game of brawl and have severel friend codes added to the friends list, yet have not been online with any of my friends. Although I dont really know if it makes a whole lot of difference my wii is not from the midnight launch.

I don't really know what problems Nintendo is putting under their free repair thing. Your best bet would be to contact support. It doesn't have to be from the midnight launch, just a launch console (basically if you got one that had the 'small' straps on the remote that came with it then it is a launch console as they started with the thicker straps with the 2nd batch.

Yeah I should probably do that today although procrastination is so much easier. Plus I got a 360 to play so I'll probably end up waiting until I got some friends around me with the game lol. Thanks for the info.

I had some minor problems at first with the disk and the update (don't think it was my Wii's fault though but Nintendo's Servers). It seems to be working perfect now though. Which is good because I didn't want to send mine in.

I had problems getting connected on the 'With Anyone' although I could go as spectator just fine with no problems. I finally after about 8 times got connected to a game on 'With Anyone' but about 30secs before the end I got dropped (I was losing with -2 anyways). I'll add you when I get back on in a little bit.

Nice its good to hear somebodies able to connect im a little bit more optimistic for the 'With Friends' games tho cuz I've been patient with the other matchmaking and its provided nothing.
