I think I'm gonna enter it, Its free, and I can play the game before it comes out. I'll probably lose the first round. But it should be fun.

Not sure if I will do this or not (wonder if all 3 Game Stops are doing it here) would love to play the game sooner but plan to buy it anyways.

I dunno if the gamestop here is doing it, I'll take a look. Original ssmb was soo much fun... I hope they didn't screw it up for this one.

I've followed the game since it was announced and they revamped the Dojo and I really doubt this one was screwed up. They have spent lots of time on it and waited to get the original creator on board. One reason why the game has taken so long to be released is they want it to be the best yet and with online play there is no doubt that it will be. They have improved the characters, added new ones, improved the moves, and online play. I couldn't want more.

Online play against anyone who isn't a friend is a 2 minute timed match with items and you can't change anything. No headsets to be able to talk to people while playing (I somewhat understand this because of the multitude of controllers) no leaderboards (like wins/losses and ktd ratio). There was rumor of being able to at least change the time of a online match from 2 minutes to 5. If you play with a friend you can change settings and what not. Online in my opinion is there just because nintendo promised it really. They focused on all the other mechanics so much they kinda just threw in online play.

If I were to get a wii this game would be the reason tho.

For SSB I don't fully see a need for a headset and I personally don't care for leaderboards, wins, kd ratio, etc. I never look at them and don't really care but I game to have fun and game with friends, not so much for stats. But the mechanics and characters are what makes SSB the best. The game is always better when playing with friends on the same system but online is great (even if it isn't feature rich) for those days where you just want to play a few rounds when nobody is around. Nintendo is behind in online play and for that I use Xbox Live anyways but I think Nintendo will make great improvements on it in the near future (and maybe do away with the codes). They have given the Wii the ability to have much more features for online play in the future by allowing updates and offering DLC now and I think it is just the start. They first want to hold their market share and then improve. Of course Nintendo doesn't have the money to throw around like Sony and Microsoft do from their other ventures and companies with huge profits.

I understand this and like I said the headset part would be hard to do because of the variety of controllers you can use to play the game. While leadersboard may not be a necessary for you many people want to see how well they do overall to see where they need to improve. And I understand the reasoning you have but not even being able to change the type of matches or at least have a random generator that chooses a match type when you enter the game seems a little bit to limited imo.

We will see what plans they have for the game. At least we know they can release updates when needed so maybe they will take advantage of it and listen to the fans of the game when improvements need to be made.

I agree with the headset. The only way I could see one working would be a wireless one that syncs with the system but I'm not sure how it will work with Gamecube controllers though but shouldn't be hard with the Classic and Wii Remote. I know a lot of people wanted and made a big deal about making sure the GameCube controller would work with SSB but the Classic Controller will work the same.

I understand a lot of people love leaderboards and pretty much play for that only reason. I know several people who are Achievement/GamerScore whores and won't stop playing a game until they get all of them. But this can also be something that can be added with an update if the developers feel there is a need for it.

My friend said that there wouldn't be an updates for online play in ssbb. I don't believe him personally but he is hardcore nintendo so there has to be some "fact" in what he has said.

It is really hard to believe that Nintendo would have the ability to update games and release patches and not utilize it in one of their biggest and most look forward to games. However, whether or not they release updates is their choice but either way the Wii has the ability to handle individual game updates so if SSB needs an update in the future Nintendo can do it. If the games work perfect then there is no reason to release updates. So, I would start assuming what Nintendo plans to do.
