So I've been searching for a month or two, trying to find the console in shops.
Without success though...
I hadn't ordered the Wii either, because most waiting lists of big webshops are 2 months, and I do not want to wait that long.
Now I found a smaller webshop though, where I'm able to get the Wii next week. Only "problem" is: the console is modded with an Argon-chip. I'd rather have one without a modchip (playing games you actually payed money for delivers a more satisfying experience somehow) but they don't sell it non-modded so whatever.
Anyone else having problems finding a Wii? Post your melodrama here!

Yeah but its the fact it is chipped, I'd rather have none chipped.
I'm not sure about your country, but I think a few shops around here have a few.

Yeah there's also the possibility that Nintendo can detect chips and disable online-play capabilities. But so far they've made no effort to detect any chips.
Furthermore your laser will die if you use lower-quality DVDs to burn your games on.

I'd wait, eventually you'll get lucky. Wii is nice but I don't think it's worth much more than the retail price. Here they're holding a bunch so on March 9th they will have a lot more Wii's for sale when Brawl comes out but that's probably not the case in Europe since you aren't getting Brawl yet. =/ You never know though.

I would prefer one without a mod chip so I would wait if I were you. I'm actually looking for a second one. Got the first at the midnight launch but have been wanting to buy a second but haven't been able to catch one in stores. My wife's family has also been looking for one for about 4 months now and have yet to find one. They almost got one a few weeks ago but a lady took the last one as they were walking up to see if they had some in stock.

See, I don't want to wait 4 months, lol.
Some retailers here haven't seen new shipments coming in for 2 or 3 months, and when they do come in they usually don't even end up in the store due to backorders.
I've already ordered that modded Wii - the extra money that chip costs doesn't really matter to me.
And yeah, Brawl won't reach Europe until June. Nintendo hates us. Guess that's a reason why modchips can be handy.

Thats crazy over there. I know some retailers here that get a few shipments each week and at least 2 a week. However, the main problem for the shortage here is that they are only getting 3-5 in per shipment. My local Best Buy gets 4 in one shipment per week and they normally last the day where as my local Wal-Mart gets 3 systems in twice a week and they normally don't make it until morning. I had a buddy who worked in electronics on Wal-Mart a few months back and for 2 months he never saw a Wii box because they were sold before he came to work at 10am.
