Good job enforcing the fat burger chugging American stereotype .
Have you seen a picture of me. Not to mention I do a sport per season (aside from summer which I will proly end up working out during. Plus if I eat fast food once a year I consider that lucky (fast food as in mcdonalds, bk, wendys etc . . .)
That's not entirely CDR's point though.
I don't understand why you'd turn down WiiFit outright, simply because you'd need to move. There's this taboo flying around that videogames must be lazy couch experiences. That somehow, they will not be fun if you need to move more than just your fingers. This is absolute nonsense.
Sure, you'll get tired of playing WiiFit 10 hours a day. As such, I could understand how WiiFit is not for World of Warcraft fans. But hey, news flash, playing games 10 hours a day aint healthy, period.
Ofcourse there's a time for playing relaxing games, but there might as well be a time for engaging games. Why not?
I play video games 1 to 2 hours a day most of the time (if I have a raid I plan to attend I plan accordingly). But every time I play wii sports I end up turning it off within 10 minutes of turning it on. So I doubt this game will be any better. I guess I can see your point but I would much rather go snowboarding outside than say seeing myself doing on a video game (granted its an alternative if someone does not know how or wish to learn how to snowboard/ski)
I am sure it will sell amazingly well, even at £70. I bet it will be one of the most traded in game items over the coming months though. Everyone I know that has a Wii plays it constantly for a few weeks when they get it then it only come out when they have friends over. They enjoy it and then buy one and the cycle begins again.
Devs are pissed off as their triple AAA games shift very few copies compared to similar products on other systems. Even Ninty's own Zelda : Twilight Princess has failed to get even 50% of the sales that they had predicted.
Even if Zelda didn't get 50% of the sales they predicted (although I'm not sure about that) it still made plenty of money. Nintendo itself has had a huge increase in profit since the release of the Wii. Nintendo must have success to stay alive (much like Sega needed to do). Playstation and Xbox have the big pockets of Sony and Microsoft behind them while Nintendo doesn't. However, the Wii has sold in amazing numbers along with its games. I doubt Wii Fit will be a huge trade in as the balance board will have future games using it in the future.
That's because Zelda: TP sucked very hard though. Good games like Mario Galaxy sold excellently.
Also, I don't believe the turn-in rate will be high. Hardcore gamers might turn it in, because they know they can, and because of their "been there, done that" mentality. But Nintendo aims its arrows at a much wider audience. My brother, who is not a regular gamer, has never turned in a book because he finished it. My mother never turned in her sewing machine once that skirt was finished.
I got mine on Saturday. It's kinda fun. My center-of-gravity was dead-on, but I'm slightly underweight according to my BMI (as if I didn't already know) as I'm 5'11" and like between 8 and 9 stone.
Also, on the topic of the balance board becoming yet another unsupported Nintendo peripheral (NES Zapper & Super Scope anyone?), am I the only one who looks at it and thinks "Oh God, 1080 sequel right now please"?
That would be frickin' cool. Possibly even cooler than Mario Kart with a wheel.

Meh, the BMI scale is garbage, it should only be take with a grain of salt.
