Why isn't it a sport? You need to be fit doing it and that's what sports are based around.

then is weightlifting a sport? how about jogging? those are just workouts. nah, parkour is like a hobby. idk, I guess I only classify things as sports when there's like clear, widespread competion, people make money at it, and its a physical sort of activity.
Parkour is pretty big in europe, you can buy dvds(2 new ones last year), there's gyms/sport centers which have obstacles set up to practice, games were/are being made based on parkour legends. Also, bodybuilding is a sport isn't it? It has huge competitions, people live off it.
Maybe it's not big in america, idk.

Old but still incredible. Good movie too. I'm getting my kids into martial art's while they're young so they can make me proud by doing shit like this.
What is that film again? I remember it's french. I might get it and just read sub titles lol.

Yeah idk I guess it could be turned into a sport, but I'm kinda with Indy on that one.
Sports seem like they all have specific rules, and right now the only rules are jump on stuff, don't die.
I'd like to see a dude like this on that Ninja show they had on G4 cause no matter how amazing you are, everyone who isn't a fireman sucks at it.

Rules don't really define a sport for me, there's not really ny rules in street skating competitions. They score points on technique and talent, and free running is full of technique. It'll soon come to the commercial level soon enough anyway and it'll be officaly a 'sport', competitions have been in planning since late 07.

What are the rules in street skating then? You have a two minute run... go? They get scored on technique and difficulty ie not being sloppy. I don't see how either differ.
