Decent PS2 RPGs?

Besides the obvious Final Fantasy series, can anyone name any decent RPGs that were published for the PS2?

So far, I've come across Shadow Hearts 1/2 and Dragon Quest VIII. But I really want to find some more, and milk this console's great catalogue of games before finally investing in a next-gen console.

I've been looking into the .hack// series of games. Does anyone know if these are any good? The concept sounds interesting - playing as a person playing an MMORPG - but it might be a bit too Japanesey-manga-chibi-character-people-strange-like :-p Sometimes those pesky Japs can make games that are a bit too strange for a Western audience lol.

I really want to play a decent RPG over Easter whilst I'm off uni, but I really don't fancy playing a Final Fantasy game again. I've really overplayed them, so I need to give them a break for a while lol.

I do love the turn-based style of battles, though it's not that important. I want one with a decent storyline.

I'm not sure if this is really an RPG, but Dark Cloud was an amazingly fun and addicting game. I know this is PS1, but if you never played it buy it;

I was kind of a fan of the .Hack series they killed plenty of hours for me. I've heard good things about Odin Sphere as well although never played. Also Star Ocean was an old school friend of mines favorite game. OH and persona 3, although it isnt your typical rpg.... Holy shit ps2 has some amazing rpg's.

I never played any of them, I think I was going to get dark cloud but back then I was young so I had no money lol.

I never really looked into RPG's when I had FF, shame really.

I want to make sweet buttsex with you now haha. That game was amazing and so long, I loved the whole war scenes too. You know like FF7, it had wars going on but you never saw them.

I remember the whole castle coming under attack, game was good.

Persona 3 is bad ass. Wait until Aug 22 tho because an "ex pack" for it is coming out, but it's just the full game with some extra story lines.

Thanks for all the tips. I'm being rather naughty and downloading the ISOs for Legend of Dragoon and .hack//Infection.

If they're good, I'll buy the actual games. But I'm a poor student and I'm not in the mood to go out and waste what little I have left of my student loan on a couple of games I won't play again, no matter how cheap they are.
