Decent PS2 RPGs?

The Baldur's Gate series.

Amazing, especially co-op with a friend.
This is not that Japanese FF turn based style stuff, its Hack n slash and loot-snagging kinda stuff.

I played one of the Baldur's Gate games... I can't remember which one. But I do agree that the one I played was good. Not the typical game I'd generally play, but good nonetheless. Kinda reminded me of Runescape a little depsite not really looking like it graphics-wise.

Good times with Baldur's Gate. Good times. Being a poor student those .hack games might drain your wallet buying all 4 volumes of the first series O.o But they have been out for quite some time. Also been lookin at Rogue Galaxy if nobodies mentiond and Xenosaga I'd would definately have to give a second reccomendation I didnt get to far but I was still intrigued.

Yeah, most PS2 games are going for like £10 preowned now, which isn't bad value for a game I can get a good few hours out of. I'll see how .hack//Infection goes and invest in the rest if good.

Xenosaga does sound a good series of games... heard about those before. However, they haven't had a European release as far as I'm aware, which means I can only obtain them illegally lol.. hmmmm.

Only one that no one hasn't already said is Dragon Quest VIII... but only if you're into that kind of game. DQ is pretty old school, but it's a great game if that doesn't bother you. Plus it's mad cheap. I picked it up for 8 bucks new.

I found Dark Cloud pretty fun.

I played Dark Cloud almost to the end until my buddy came over one day and stepped on it. 5 secs later the big buffoon looks down at it and goes "hey, what happened to your disc?". Was a cool game though.

Might have to give Dark Cloud a go, since most people in this thread have mentioned it now lol.
I've been playing .hack//Infection, but I don't know what to think of it. I think I'm playing it for the sake of playing something. The idea sounded good, but it's... not really that good lol. Think I'll keep playing for now to see if it gets any better, and then start playing Legend of Dragoon which I've also 'obtained'

But yeah, as for DQVIII, I agree it's a great game. Clichéd storyline, but I like turn based battles

I can't even remember what dark cloud was about, but you roamed caves and found peices of houses and then built the village yourself, then explored it.

Was amazing.
