My PC was used for lots of gaming but not much anymore. It has now been setup as a media center on my entertainment center as I made the switch to a new iMac which replaced my PC. I had stopped PC gaming due to more time on the Xbox 360 and Wii.

Just for fun here is my current computer setup although it's not a PC.

24" Apple iMac
2.4Ghz Processor
4GB of Ram
500GB HDD
300GB External HDD (backup via Time Machine)
ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro w/ 256MB
I run dual monitors with the 24" iMac and a 22" Dell.

Yeah, I still haven't forgiven nVIDIA for the death of 3Dfx (I blame them completely) and though the Core 2 Duo/Quad processors are better for raw performance, I've not used an Intel since before the travesty that was the Pentium 4. Unless you count my Laptop of course, but you can't (to my knowledge) get IBM ThinkPads with AMD chipsets and processors. It has ATI graphics too, though. =D

AMD hates you. =P

That's the best combo right now though; Intel has the fastest CPUs, AMD/ATI has the fastest GPU(s) - the Radeon HD 3870 X2. Sure, it's two chips on one card, but it sure beats the hell out of the 8800 series in terms of price/performance. Plus you will soon be able to link multiple X2's, meaning Quad-crossfire and beyond.

nVIDIA will have the GeForce 9 series out on the 21st Feb. though, if they're on track.
