Well, nyle asked me to put together a list of parts for him, and I did. I have everything so far, except for a case, cause he'll pick that. I'm posting here to have you guys check over it, I know everything is compatible but I'm not sure if he'll have enough cables and stuff like that.
Still needs some coolers and such. Yes, it has to 512 EVGA 8800GT's. He's gonna upgrade to a new quad later, since right now they are out of stock or not even out yet.
So can you guys just go over it, see if I fucked anything up?
I think I'd wait before the quads in stock/out until spending £150 on something you'll upgrade quickly imo

I'm pretty sure he can get quad from a different retailer..

The Q9450, which is the bang for buck quad, isn't in stock in most places until march 14th or later, and then they gotta take care of pre orders which are supposed to take 3 months or so to fulfill.
He keeps bitching me to make a list for him, but I'm not going to.
Also, nothing wrong with your choices (500GB drives are better value though, and two optical drives for reading the same media [DVDs & CDs] are utterly pointless) but I find it hard to get excited about the same old Core 2/8800GT setup that every Joe Schmoe has these days. Also why buy a 780i and only one GPU? Seems very pointless. And in most cases a cheaper 680i will fit the bill just as well.
I suggested to Nyle he went with the Radeon 3870X2 (fastest single card available right now, though that will soon change, yes I know it's 2 GPUs on one card but whatever) and a Q6600. Q6600 may be old, but it overclocks well, it has lots of cache and it's very cheap.

Did you read max? The list has two 8800GT's. I didn't go with ATi Because their cards right now are just not as good as Nvidia. Two 8800GT's outprefrom a 3870X2.
You're right, the HDD needs upgrading. I think it's a better idea to get a nice dual core and then wait a while and get a nice quad core, instead of getting an old quad that is 65nm instead of 45.
I got two opticals because he can use one for writing and one for reading, might be pointless but that's what I'd do in my set up.
OCZ is a name brand, lots of my buddies use them. They are the ones who make StealthXStream and stuff, they are really quiet and have a great efficiency.
