LOL, I haven't been to that place for ages. Generally find that the people there are really unhelpful and unfriendly. They are just there because they want to be garry's best friend and get half the profits from Gmod... Oh wait, that was me...

Open Arena. Great open source game, runs on basically any computer worth using - really low system requirements (Pentium/AMD K6 II) and is cross-platform.
It's based on the Quake III Arena engine and they've recreated some of the levels from the other Quake games too. We play it during lectures - our server is called "Nyle's teh rocket spam" or something. >.>
