Best war movies?

As already said, Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down (two of my favorites anyway) and Full Metal Jacket.

Whoops FMJ is amazing, its one of the first movies I bought on HD. Also Platoon would rate high on my list.

FMJ does not beat saving private ryan(or BHD).. you're crazy if you think it does.

The reason why I didn't want comedys is cause the films I mentioned don't really glamorise war(I'm going to get flammed). I wouldn't considering FMJ as a comedy either but I can't recall much.

It's a mix, obviously. Three Kings isn't purely a comedy either.

The brutal reality of war in contrast with quality comedic relief can offer the excellent results (a prime example being La Vita è bella) - and let's face it, FMJ would not be the masterpiece it is without that important comical side to it.

Oh I agree but It's not glamorous or fun, it's deadly which is why I don't enjoy the comedys to much.
