I have downloaded the Ubuntu ISO from the website and I have tried to put it on my old computer with windows but the problem is I cannot get to the desktop to run from the disk because Bitch windows wants me to activate it (and I cannot for various reasons)

Can you guys find a way to make it run from the disk if i make it boot from the cd drive?

... Just stick the cd in the drive and turn off the PC then turn it back on. Then it should ask if you want to boot from the CD, press yes obviously. If it doesn't ask there should be a setting in BIOS called BOOT or something. Choose the Cd drive.

This is really the only way to install Ubuntu anyway. lol. You make it seem like you have this outrageous problem.

the point was it was not working. I had to mount the iso using Magic Iso and make it bootable and wrote it at the slowest cd speed for it to work.

It got past most of the installer but for some reason its stuck on 6% on the final installer bit.

WDF just as i was typing it skipped to 19%
