iTunes/iPod troubles

Hey guys!

We had our computer completely reinstalled last week, so I had to build it up from the ground again.
Now, everything works just dandy except for one thing...
I reinstalled iTunes and plugged in my iPod (which already has tons of stuff on it, don't know if that's the problem).
Nothing. Doesn't recognize it, whatever I try (inside iTunes).
What's even better is that nearly everything else freezes once I try to close iTunes and I need to reboot.

Does it charge when you plug the ipod in?

Yup, it does charge.

I think you have to sync it but that should ask you when you connect them.

And it doesn't.
When I start iTunes it's all fine and dandy, but once I plug in the iPod, iTunes freezes over and doesn't show any sign of recognition.
The iPod does charge though.

I've not got a clue, try find an apple / ipod forum and ask them.

Eh... I installed iTunes 7.6 (current version is 7.7) and it's all good now.
Whatever works, I guess.
