As for clothing, I don't mind spending the cash either but I just know how much gear I get from FL when I go over there that it makes it extremely hard wanting to pay $150-$200 for a hoody etc =/

Yeah, mainly because it's what we're used to, but also because of the inflation of everything else except our wages. It's not just our gas, but everything that's gone up with price recently. And the fact that most people don't use public or alternative means of transportation. Just something many Americans are trying to adjust to, meaning lots of cutbacks in spending.

Public transport issue yeah I can see that, our public transport is well organised and used A LOT. As for everything else, it's STILL dirt cheap.

What you begining to go through now is something we've been living for years, it's just like I said and you agreed to... being used to it.
