Well, the website was Dreamcast.com. That is a pretty good shot that it's official, but people didn't realize that Sega no longer owns it. Very clever.

Normally they will still own domains and just have them redirect to their main site as to hold onto their trademark. Although not trademarked, I own 4 domains that I don't use anymore (don't even redirect them anymore) and one I haven't used or touched in 5 years and the others in about 2-3 years. I still renew them yearly but never plan to drop them.

I've bought domains for future use as well just because they were available. Most I don't end up using and just let expire but my past domains are hard for me to drop. The wife never understands why I pay just over $200 for domains since I don't even use some of them.
