This is an anime series and even if you do like anime I really suggest you at least watch the few first episodes. In my opinion it is really thought out and in all honesty it really fucks with your head. I have never really been an anime fan myself but, I was a huge fan of 2 (samurai champloo and hunter x hunter) and now Death Note.

I'd tell you the storyline but if I went in too deep it would give away plot twists and whatever, also the storyline the site has written up does the anime no justice.

Yes it has a dub but i suggest watching it in Japanese and reading the subtitles better voices (imo) and more violent generally (Whenever an anime from Japan comes to the US to be translated it is usually very heavily edited.)

I think that those who don't like anime, will not be converted by this series. Especially the non believers on this forum are quite rigorous & clear in their tastes and will most likely vomit this thread to pulp due to the recommendation.

It's a decent anime with mediocre, one dimensional characters apart from "L" who is portrayed very well.
The story is something new and refreshing in the anime world allright, but I'm afraid there's some serious cash-cow milking going on, and they've stretched the series a bit too long.

I didn't like Death Note that much.


I think Blood Plus and Bleach are way better.
And that's all the anime I ever watched tbh.. so I may be lacking knowledge..

I was not a huge fan of bleach personally but at the point of where I am in death note right now it does feel dragged out. At least its not like naruto and yu-gi-oh where there are like 200+ episodes. Not only that they are just bad series.

I prefer series that last 26 episodes, though it all depends on the quality and consistency thereof naturally.

Many popular series gets milked and stretched to more episodes than it should. The first batch of naruto episodes were decent in a way. They contained atleast some plot development and were entertaining to watch. Now there are so many fillers or useless episodes, it just becomes unwatchable.
Same with Bleach; it was great up to the point where Rukia is rescued, and then the quality takes a backseat to longetivity, because it's more profitable that way.

Yup that is why samurai champloo is my favorite anime. Always has been. 26 great episodes imo.
